(Reedless woodwind instrument)
The flute is a woodwind instrument where sound is produced by vibrations from air streams breaking against a sharp edge. The first flutes were blown from the end and date back to 35,000 years ago in Germany, while modern Western flutes played sideways were first discovered in ancient Greece in the 2nd century. Modern flutes nowadays are made from gold, silver, or sometimes platinum. There are many different types of flutes, such as the alto flute, Eb soprano flute, and bass flute.
