Harp

(String instrument)

About

The harp is a string instrument that has a triangular wooden body with strings stretch within the frame. Sound is produced by plucking or strumming the strings and there are pedals used to alter the pitch of the notes. Harps have been found as early as 3000 BCE and rose to popularity during medieval Europe and all over Asia and the Americas. Harps are used extensively in Irish folk music and even became the Ireland national symbol. The modern concert harp is used in a variety of orchestras and can be played in folk and classical music.
