(Double-reed woodwind instrument)
The oboe is a woodwind instrument with a conical tube and a double-reed mouthpiece. It has a penetrating sound produced when air blown through the double reed forces the two reeds to vibrate closer together. Although the oboe originated in France, German-style oboes quickly spread through Europe. However, France developed the conservatoire style at the beginning of the 19th century.
