Saxophone

(Single-reed woodwind instrument)

About

The saxophone is a single-reed woodwind that, unlike many other woodwinds, has a body made of brass. Sound is produced when a reed vibrates inside a mouthpiece, and pitch is altered by pressing the keys along the body. The saxophone was created in the 1840s and came with a variety of different variations, including the alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones. The saxophone can be found in many different ensembles such as jazz and concert bands, occasionally in orchestras, and has begun gaining popularity within rock and pop music.
